Tips To Improve Your Dog's Digestion

Tips To Improve Your Dog's Digestion

Read on for our top tips for improving your dog’s digestion!

🐾  Use an elevated dog bowl: Elevated dog bowls allow dogs to be in an appropriate position to effectively digest their food, and can also slow down eating. When a dog's head is above its stomach while eating, food can more efficiently be digested.

🐾🐾 Limit activity for an hour before and after meals: Allowing your dog time to recover after activity before meals and to effectively digest food after eating is crucial for digestion. Some larger, deep-chested breeds may even be prone to bloat, also known as gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV), a medical emergency that can be caused by too much activity on a full stomach.

🐾🐾🐾 Feed smaller meals more frequently: If you notice your dog showing signs of digestive issues, try splitting their meals into two smaller meals!

🐾🐾🐾🐾 Incorporate species-appropriate probiotics into their diet: Adding foods like Greek yogurt, kefir, or species-specific gut supplements like our Gut Health Support natural health supplement can enhance your dog’s digestive health and diversify their diet!

🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾 Burp the baby: Yup! Burping the fur baby by patting his or her sides can help move the air bubbles that may be trapped or developing, especially if your pup is a medium or larger breed.
